MANCHESTER UNITED are speeding up the arrival of top scout Sam Williams as their plans take shape.
United have done a deal with Ipswich for their head of recruitment, who will return to Old Trafford at the start of next month.
Williams was on six months’ gardening leave when he decided to go back to United as their emerging talent chief.
He previously worked for the Red Devils as an academy scout and first team recruitment analyst between 2017 to 2022.
United are aiming to build a “best-in-class” academy recruitment team, with Williams taking on the role of lead scout.
The 36-year-old will report to head of academy recruitment Luke Fedorenko and is one of several recent changes to the scouting and recruitment department.
