Sir Jim Ratcliffe ‘cancels senior Man Utd staff’s private cars’ as Ineos boss’ brutal crackdown continues

SENIOR staff members at Manchester United have seen their access to private cars cut off.

The decision is one of a number cost-cutting methods that have been implemented by new 27.7 per cent owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Ratcliffe and Ineos, who have been placed in charge of football operations since their minority takeover, have enlisted the help of financial consultancy firm Interpath Advisory to help balance the books.

It had been reported earlier in the week that Interpath and Ratcliffe had cancelled the credit cards of heads of department at the Manchester club.

And now The Times have reported that access to chauffeur-driven private cars has also been taken away from some senior staff members.

Interpath’s financial review of the club has reportedly found that the Old Trafford outfit “waste a lot of money” and advised Racliffe and Co to reduce their costs going forward.

It’s understood that the advisers will have no influence on player sales, but are focusing on business and operational costs instead.

The review was partially sparked by the £257,000 fine that United were slapped with by Uefa last summer for breaking the organisation’s Financial Fair Play regulations.

And with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) now leading to hefty points deductions – as seen with both Everton and Nottingham Forest – the club are trying to ensure they stay on the right side of the line.

It’s thought that Man Utd are confident of not breaching the rules, but execs at the club have previously voiced concern over PSR and the impact it could have.

Speaking back in December chief operating officer Collette Roche said: “We have seen this season that Financial Fair Play rules have real teeth,

“So we have to be very careful to ensure we remain compliant, and we will.

“That means being really disciplined on spending going forward, with a balance between incomings and outgoings”
