MOTD’s Steve Bower shared a clip on social media as he made his way to the commentary position at the 132-year-old ground.

And, incredibly, it meant walking on the stadium’s ROOF!

Bower said: “I’ve always been scared of heights. And as you’ve seen it’s a walk of trepidation to put it midly.

“I’ve got better over the years but it’s still something I don’t particularly look forward to as part of my day job. And once I am up here i’m mightily relieved.”

In the video Bower gives a first hand view of how you get pitchside to the gantry in what he calls the “scariest part of any ground in the Premier League.”

First, he makes his way through the away end at Goodison and then onto the concourse.

Then he heads into the upper tier and went straight to the top.

Next, Bower heads through a door right at the back of the stand and climbs up to the roof.

From the very top, he can clearly see Liverpool’s Anfield stadium across Stanley Park.

A nervous Bower then timidly makes his way across the roof to open a small-latch and climbs down to the gantry, where you see the entire pitch at Everton spread out before you.

Some fans were quick to use the video as an opportunity to aim a dig at the struggling Toffees – who find themselves stuck in a relegation battle after a six-point FFP deduction.

One fan said about the TV Gantry: “It’s higher than their league position.”

While another added: “Wonder if we’ll find any points up there!”

A third then put: “The scariest part is having to watch Everton.”

Everton currently sit 16th in the league four points above 18th place Luton.

And on Saturday in a relegation battle they face Burnley who are 19th in the table.
