Fuming Harry Maguire booked after full-time as Man Utd set new unwanted Premier League record against Chelsea

FUMING Harry Maguire was booked after the final whistle in Manchester United’s last-gasp defeat at Chelsea.

Cole Palmer stole the show as he fired the Blues to a thrilling 4-3 win at Stamford Bridge on Thursday to create Premier League history.

An early strike from Conor Gallagher and a penalty from Palmer, 21, gave the hosts a two-goal lead.

The momentum soon switched as Mauricio Pochettino’s side threw away their lead before the break as United drew level through Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes.

Garnacho then grabbed a second to make it 3-2 on 69 minutes and that is how it looked set to finish until a remarkable turnaround deep into stoppage time.

Noni Madueke was firstly fouled by Diogo Dalot in the area, allowing Palmer to step up and level from the spot with his second penalty of the night in the 99th-minute.

But then Palmer received a short corner and drilled a deflected shot past Andre Onana to spark wild celebrations in West London.

That strike was timed at 100 minutes and 39 seconds and is the latest winning goal on record (since 2006-07) in a Premier League game.

There was also another unwanted record for United, who were leading on 99 minutes and 17 seconds.

That was the latest a side has ever led in a Premier League match that they have gone on to lose.

And it all proved to be a little too much for 31-year-old Maguire at the final whistle.

He was spotted remonstrating with referee Jarred Gilett in the centre circle at full-time.

Harry Maguire calls for Southgate to stay on as England boss after Euros… but Man Utd ace may be better off if he GOES

However, whatever he said landed him in bother as his actions were met with a yellow card.

It is not clear what the defender was complaining about, although many players were fuming with the late penalty decision.

United’s players were also not happy that the ref played more than the eight additional minutes that had been signalled by the fourth official.

That late setback came after Brentford scored a 99th-minute equaliser against them on Saturday.

And boss Erik ten Hag knows things have to improve before they face Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.

He said: “We started the game poorly but I had the feeling we were dominating.
