PEP GUARDIOLA has revealed which midfielder he believes is “by far the best in the world”.
The Manchester City manager has coached some of football’s greatest players during his illustrious career.
However, he has now highlighted the efforts of one current City midfielder in particular.
Guardiola believes no other player can compare to Rodri based on his recent displays.

“The holding midfielder has to play positive, for him and for the team, and make the team play. This is the role for the holding midfielders.
“All the highlights have to be for the guys up front who score goals and make assists and so on.
“But Rodri always has the ability in important moments to score goals so he’s an unbelievable player. He’s the best midfield player in the world currently by far because he is able to do everything.
“What a signing. It’s difficult to understand how we could have done what we have done in recent years without him.”

Rodri’s late goal against Chelsea on Saturday rescued a point for City to keep them within four points of league leaders Liverpool.
The strike was his 24th for the club in 238 appearances since a £60million move from Atletico Madrid in 2019.
Those goals include the winner in the Champions League final back in June.
Rodri has also won 10 major trophies with City, including the historic treble last season.
The 27-year-old still has over three years remaining on his contract after extending his deal in 2022.
