LIVERPOOL BOSS Jurgen Klopp has revealed Brentford striker Ivan Toney’s thoughtful message to him.

Toney confirmed in the match programme that he was a Liverpool fan and made a beeline for the Kop boss after the final whistle.

The pair chatted and Klopp, who will leave Anfield at the end of the season, explained: “It was like I was smiling at him, as he’s obviously quite a handful and really tricky to play against – although I used a different word.

“Am I right that he’s a Liverpool supporter and he’s not shy of saying that?

“I can admit it as well. We spoke a little bit about that and he wished me good luck for my time after.

“A lot of people have said it, a lot of players.

“It’s not necessary, but it’s nice when you hear it.

“Nobody has to worry – I will find something, a place to watch the Premier League.

“It was a nice conversation.”

Toney is a major transfer target amongst Premier League clubs for the next transfer window with Chelsea and Arsenal battling it out to sign the striker.

Klopp said he had also chatted with another couple of Brentford players and found them as good to talk to as they were hard to play against.

The Liverpool boss said: “This is the strange thing in football.

“This is probably one of the nicest teams and coaching staff you can face.

“You play against them, you want to knock them down every five seconds because it’s just annoying.

“Everything is set up to make you really look rubbish.

“But around that, it’s a great club and I like everything about it. Just not playing them!”
