He signed Cech in his first season in charge and the pair won the Premier League twice in 2004 and 2005, and again in 2015.

Mourinho was famous for his mind games with the opposition, and peddled narratives to the press to make them focus on the issues he wanted.

Cech explained on Sky Sports: “People have this perception of Jose obviously from TV, and because of his press conferences.

“I hope he doesn’t mind me saying, he would sometimes come to our meeting and say, ‘Guys, this is what I want. This is what I really think. This is what we really do, but I’m going to go to the press conference and say this and that so don’t be surprised. It’s just a thing I want them to hear. I want them to have that kind of feeling about [us] because I want them to do this.’

Cech, 41, was asked about Mourinho potentially returning to Chelsea for his third spell as manager.

The former goalkeeper did not rule it out, saying “you never know”.

Some Chelsea fans are also keen for Cech to return for a third stint, having previously acted as a technical advisor between 2019-22, leaving when Todd Boehly took charge.
