Broadcaster John Bradley spotted his mistake during the first half and later took to X, formerly Twitter, to discuss it.

He wrote: “There was a very funny moment during the first half of Arsenal Liverpool. Think it was when Jarell Quansah was injured.

“Martin Odegaard looks behind the goal and implores the crowd to make some noise and get behind Arsenal…not realising it was Liverpool fans behind the goal.”

Fans were quick to react, with one person writing: “I saw that and thought has he just done that to the Liverpool end. Lol.”

Another added: “I thought I seen that but wasn’t sure 😂.”

A third wrote: “Haha, I didn’t realise that was the away stand. Neither did Odegaard which is way more embarrassing.”

While a fourth said: “Not knowing where your fans are at your own stadium is wild.”

Following his team’s FA Cup exit, Mikel Arteta said: “We didn’t take the chances, I haven’t seen any other team in the first six months that have generated what we have done against them in the last two games and we’re not capitalising – not today, in the last few games – that’s why we are not winning games.

“Performance-wise, merit-wise, there is no question, but to win the game actually the results say something very different.

“When my team plays with that attitude, with that courage, with that desire and do what they’ve done to probably the best team in Europe at the moment in terms of momentum, what can I do? Stay behind them and support them.”
