‘You have to be careful,’ Pep Guardiola says after Jack Grealish break-in as he issues warning to players most at risk

PEP Guardiola today revealed Man City players have been given special security instructions following a raid on Jack Grealish’s home.

The manager warned “you have to be careful” after the midfielder’s home was targeted by robbers who swiped £1million in watches and jewellery.

Pep also confirmed his players have been given a presentation about beefing up their security in the wake of the Boxing Day raid.

Speaking at a press conference today, he added: “He’s much better, of course. He communicated his feelings a lot.

“He’s had time to fix so it won’t happen again and the burglars have to know that there is no more jewellery at home so it’s not necessary. Joking aside, he’s fixing it to try to avoid it.”

Pep said the team’s chief security officer is “handling it” with Grealish, as well as his family and partner Sasha Attwood, who were in the home at the time.

He continued: “They’re impacted, which is normal. When you’re at home and you have people come inside, it’s scary. It’s normal.

“Try to be relaxed, make the perfect environment so it doesn’t happen again.”

The gaffer explained how City stars have been warned to “prepare” as they were given a stark meeting over security last season.

He said: “If you live in an apartment here [in Manchester] maybe it is easier but when you’re in the countryside, or [go] away, you have to be careful.”

The raiders struck at Grealish’s £5.6million home in Cheshire just weeks after he moved in.

His “shaken” family were watching City play Everton when they heard a noise from upstairs.

They were forced to take cover as cops rushed to the home to avoid a potential hostage situation.

Grealish later told how he was “devastated” by the robbery and felt like he could not celebrate his achievements.

The England star added: “My family mean the world to me and nothing is more important than ensuring their safety.

“This has been a traumatic experience for all of us, I am just so grateful that nobody was hurt.

“The people that commit these terrible crimes have no idea of the damage they cause to people’s lives.

“I hope they are found and brought to justice so no other family has to go through what we have.”
