“People were even recognising me when I travelled to London with the national team – that was really surprising.”

Cho – dubbed the “Korean David Beckham” by Spanish media – became so popular he reverted to wearing a disguise back home.

He revealed: “I wear a hat and a mask but people still recognise me. One time, people started chasing me down the street. That was crazy.”

Cho, 25, was linked with a move to Europe with the likes of Leicester City, Watford and Celtic interested.

But he instead signed for Danish side Midtjylland for £2.6million in July from Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors.

Cho has scored eight in 16 league appearances this season and continues to be picked for his country where he has eight goals.
