Matic launches astonishing attack on Man Utd and claims two players were ‘always late’ as he reveals huge list of fines

PAUL POGBA and Jadon Sancho infuriated Manchester United team-mates by arriving late to training, Nemanja Matic has claimed.

The Serbian midfielder, 35, spent five years at Old Trafford, leaving for Roma in 2022 after 189 appearances.

Now he has launched a frank and stinging attack on the Red Devils.

And he focused his attention on two big-money signings who failed to deliver.

Pogba, 30, arrived for a then-world record £89million in 2016 but was released in 2022 and rejoined Juventus for free.

Meanwhile, Sancho, 23, has struggled on and off the pitch since his £73m arrival from Borussia Dortmund in 2021.

And the English winger is currently frozen out of the first-team set-up as he refuses to back down and apologise following his public spat with boss Erik ten Hag.

But Rennes ace Matic insists the standards at United are far lower than at his previous club and rivals Chelsea – and led to a huge kitty of fines building up.

The two-time Premier League winner at Stamford Bridge told YU Planet: “At Chelsea, players acted professionally.

“They were punctual and were never late for training but at United it happened almost every day.

“Among the players who would always be late were Paul Pogba and Jadon Sancho and a couple of other players.

“The rest of us who were always on time were angry so we decided to form a kind of an internal disciplinary committee with me serving as its president.

“I put a sheet of paper up on the wall where I documented the names of individuals arriving late.

“During one particular season, we collected around £75,000 in fines.

“We had planned to use the money to throw a party in London but we didn’t due to the Covid outbreak.”

Sancho fell out with Ten Hag in September when he was axed from the squad to face Arsenal – with the manager blaming his performances in training.

JADON SANCH-GO?

However, the ex-City academy star rejected this claim in a stunning social media post in which he said he had been made a “scapegoat”.

Ten Hag, it is understood, would be open to Sancho returning to the first team – but only if Sancho apologises.

In the meantime, the wide man is “training like a beast” with the kids and cannot even eat with the senior stars.

And as long as there is no change in the situation, United will likely try and secure a transfer away for Sancho in January.

However, it is not just Sancho who is at loggerheads with Ten Hag.

Reports suggest the Dutchman has lost as much as 50 per cent of the dressing room with morale around the club running low.

United fell to their tenth defeat of the season at Newcastle on Saturday and were outplayed throughout – continuing their horror run against top-half teams.

Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial both came in for criticism at St James’ Park for their attitude while assistant boss Steve McClaren had to tell some players to go over and clap the fans in the freezing cold at 10pm.
