F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix LIVE RESULTS: Verstappen gets record-breaking win in FINAL race while Hamilton finishes 9th

Max Verstappen continues F1 dominance

The Red Bull driver seals his 19th win of the race season.

He is the first ever driver to lead 1000 laps in a race campaign.

There are only three races that the Dutch driver did not win in this F1 season, what a driver.

Lap 57/58 – Verstappen leads, Leclerc second

Perez takes Russell to move into third place.

While he has a five second penalty to be applied, he will be looking to build a lead big enough to keep his podium position.

Norris and Piastri sit in fifth and sixth place.

Tsunoda is in seventh, just one place behind where he needs to be for Alpha Tauri to edge ahead of Williams.

Lap 55/58 – Verstappen leads, Leclerc second

Ferrari are hoping for a safety car to save them now.

It looks unlikely as we have not seen one in the entire race.

Verstappen leads the race by 11.4 seconds from Leclerc.

Russell is a further 3.6 seconds behind the Ferrari.

Lap 53/58 – Verstappen leads, Leclerc second

The battle between Ferrari and Mercedes is heating up.

Sainz still needs to pit again and currently his team are two points behind their rivals.

Perez has been given a five second penalty for a pit stop infringement.

All twenty drivers are still in this race which is a rare sight.

Lap 51/58 – Verstappen leads, Leclerc second

Sainz currently sits in tenth place, with Hamilton in ninth.

Russell is in third place, behind Leclerc in second.

Meanwhile, Verstappen leads by 8.5 seconds as he looks to seal his 19th win of the F1 season.

Lap 49/58 – Verstappen leads, Leclerc second

As it stands, Ferrari and Mercedes are locked on 408 points a piece.

Norris and Perez have a coming together, forcing the McLaren to head off the track.

He stays ahead of Perez but may have to give that place back after going off the track and using it to his advantage.

Lap 47/58 – Verstappen leads, Leclerc second

Perez and Verstappen keep exchanging the fastest lap.

The Red Bulls are going all out now on their new tyres.

Perez currently sits in fifth but has Norris in his sights.

Lap 45/58 – Verstappen leads, Leclerc second

As Perez heads into the pits, Leclerc moves into second.

Verstappen is now 28 seconds ahead of the Ferrari, so takes the opportunity to pit himself.

Coming back out onto the track still leading the race.

It cuts his lead down to 5.2 seconds now though.

Lap 43/58 – Verstappen leads, Perez second

As it stands, Ferrari are one point ahead of Mercedes.

Leclerc is some 13 seconds behind Perez in second place.

Norris moves up into fifth place, with Piastri in eighth.

Lap 41/58 – Verstappen leads, Perez second

Russell takes Tsunoda to move up into fourth place.

It is all chance as Hamilton is now down in twelfth place.

Leclerc is in third, Sainz now in ninth place.

They are putting pressure on Mercedes’ hopes of finishing second right now.

Lap 39/58 – Verstappen leads, Perez second

This is looking like a Sunday stroll for Verstappen as he leads Perez by 16.2 seconds.

He even tells his team to let Checo pit before him.

Verstappen may be listening to Lionel Ritchie songs as he enjoys his leisurely drive around the Abu Dhabi track.

Lap 37/58 – Verstappen leads, Perez second

Russell is told to box after Norris heads in.

The Mercedes driver questions if they can do a one-stop race but his team are not having any of it.

Verstappen now leads Leclerc by 9 seconds, with his teammate Perez now in third place.

Leclerc then heads into the pits allowing Red Bull a one/two in the race.

Lap 35/58 – Verstappen leads, Leclerc second

As it stands, Mercedes are five points ahead of Ferrari.

Sainz is currently sitting in twelfth position which is not what Ferrari are hoping for.

Leclerc is keeping up his end of the bargain, his teammate needs to up his game.

Norris heads in for his second pit stop as he is struggling on his current tyres, a much better pit stop this time of 2.3 seconds.

Lap 33/58 – Verstappen leads, Leclerc second

The tactics of the teams are now becoming evident as Tsunoda is planning a one-stop race.

Alpha Tauri need him to get at least a sixth place for their constructor aims on where they want to finish.

Lance Stroll has clocked the fastest lap time of the race so far.

Lap 31/58 – Verstappen leads, Leclerc second

Leclerc has now had two track limits warnings, he will not be wanting to rack up a third for sure.

Verstappen leads the Ferrari by 6.3 seconds, this man is just a machine.

Tsunoda is back in ninth place, Hamilton in eighth and Alonso in seventh currently.

Lap 29/58 – Verstappen leads, Leclerc second

Russell will be focussed on trying to get a podium finish today.

It is crazy to think that the Mercedes driver only has one podium finish in the entire season.

Norris and Piastri are just behind him in fourth and fifth.

Lap 27/58 – Verstappen leads, Leclerc second

Ferrari really need a good race from both of their drivers today.

As Sainz heads out of the pits in sixteenth place, Mercedes now has a four point lead in the constructor’s championship.

Hamilton does however have some damage to a wing, whether that gets worse and will need replacing remains to be seen.

Currently, he is in eighth position with Russell in third.

Lap 25/58 – Verstappen leads, Leclerc second

Normal service has been resumed as Tsunoda heads into the pits.

Russell is in third place, just ahead of Norris in fourth.

Sainz is putting some real pressure on the McLaren, only 0.7 seconds behind him.

The Ferrari heads into the pits for his second set of hard tyres.
