Tottenham set bizarre unwanted Premier League record as fans say ‘Spurs have returned to factory settings’

TOTTENHAM have set an unwanted Premier League record following their 2-1 defeat to Wolves on Saturday.

Spurs have been hailed for their superb form this term under Ange Postecoglou, but it appears the wheels may be falling off.

The North Londoners got off to their best start to a Premier League season while the Aussie boss has become the first ever gaffer to win the Manager of the Month award for each of the season’s first three months.

But after two losses on the bounce their impressive records are quickly forgotten and they’re already setting new unwanted ones.

Saturday’s 2-1 loss was the longest any team has ever led a Premier League game and still gone on to lose it.

Spurs were ahead of Wolves for an astounding 88 minutes before throwing away all three points by conceding two late goals.

It was Brennan Johnson’s third minute goal that put Postecoglou’s men ahead, but injury time finishes from Pablo Sarabia and Mario Lemina turned things around for the hosts.

Tottenham held on for so long, but their injury riddled side were unable to take anything away from the Molineux.

Eric Dier and Ben Davies started as Postecoglou’s centre-back partnership as Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven missed out thanks to suspension and injury.

And some fans on social media think that it’s the forced rotation at the back that caused the late heartbreak.

One wrote: “Crazy how Tottenham returned to factory settings with Davies and Dier partnership.”

While another added: “If any CB partnership in the PL was going to achieve this it was definitely gonna be Dier and Davies.

“The drop in quality from Romero and VDV to them is absolutely absurd the more I think about it lmao.”

Other fans suggested that Tottenham were exceeding their level for the first portion of the season anyway and have now returned to their usual selves.

One wrote: “Spurs DNA finally got to Ange ball.”

And a second chimed in saying: “Man City and Liverpool back in a title race, West Ham sliding down the table, Spurs bottling games. Nature is healing.”

A third added: “At least Spurs are on brand.”

Tottenham’s last two results has seen them slip off the top of the table and below fierce rivals Arsenal into fourth place.

And an injury to star player James Maddison is only going to make turning things around harder for Postecoglou’s men.

After the international break they face a tricky run of fixtures against the likes of Man City, Aston Villa and Newcastle.
