A fifth said: “A beautiful gesture from Diogo Jota towards his teammate Díaz in such a difficult moment.”

Another added: “Lovely touch from Diogo Jota after opening the scoring at Anfield earlier.”

Diaz missed the game against Nottingham Forest due to the incident with his parents.

The incident is said to have happened near an area called Los Barrancones as the captors headed towards Colombia’s border with Venezuela.

They reportedly had the intention of smuggling him into the neighbouring country.

It comes after his mum, Cilenis Marulanda, was freed from her captors and was pictured overnight enjoying a tearful reunion with relatives.

And it was thankfully confirmed hours later that his father was safe as well by local media, following a shootout that left two people dead.
