HARRY REDKNAPP has slammed the treatment of Harry Maguire following his son Jamie’s recent comments.
Maguire has returned to the Manchester United side after a period of time away from the starting XI.
The England international starred in the Red Devils’ 1-0 victory over Copenhagen on Tuesday night, scoring the game’s only goal.
And he played the full 90 minutes in both of Man Utd’s last two Premier League games against Sheffield United and Brentford, helping them slowly turn the tide on their dismal start to the season.
As a result of his impact, former Portsmouth boss Redknapp, has given him a glowing review and come at his critics in recent months.
Speaking to BetVictor, he said: “Harry has had so much stick over the last couple of years and a lot of it has been completely rubbish.

“He’s been out of favour, but he’s knuckled down and waited for his opportunity. He was superb at Bramall Lane and hopefully the lad can build on that performance moving forward.”
Maguire’s rollercoaster season has seen him get a barrage of abuse from fans, social media and pundits alike.
But Redknapp isn’t the only one supporting the 30-year-old with his son Jamie also sticking his neck out for the centre-back when discussing his Old Trafford future.
Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: “Do I think long-term that he’ll be the answer for them? I actually don’t, he’s played well recently but I think he’ll have to make his way again somewhere else,

“But he doesn’t deserve the amount of hate he gets, I think it’s been massively below the belt and disgraceful at times.”
It’s yet to be seen if Erik ten Hag will stick with his winning formula of Maguire at the back when Man Utd face their toughest test of the Premier League season so far on Sunday.
