SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY have sacked head coach Xisco Munoz after eight defeats from his opening ten games as manager.
Munoz only took the role in July, after Sheffield Wednesday parted ways with previous manager Darren Moore.
Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri sacked Moore despite him guiding The Owls to promotion from League One last season – citing a dispute over his wage demands.
But Wednesday’s form under former Watford manager Munoz has been a disaster and yesterday’s 1-0 defeat to West Brom was enough to seal his fate.
The Owls are rock bottom of The Championship following last season’s promotion and are without a win after 10 games played.
Their two draws leave them four points behind Yorkshire neighbours Rotherham who are in 23rd.

Wednesday are a whopping seven points off safety already – leaving the owners little choice but to part with Munoz.
Under-21s coach Neil Thompson will take charge of the team until a successor for Munoz is appointed.
The club said in a blunt statement: “The Owls would like to thank Xisco and his staff for their services and wish them well for the future.
“The process to appoint a new manager is now underway and we will make no further comment at this time.”

Munoz’s sacking comes after owner Chansiri has come under major pressure from fans.
In a sensational statement, the owner said last week that he would now refuse to put any of his own money into the club.
The owner blamed fans not attending matches on his decision to raise ticket prices across the board.
In the statement, Chansiri said: “I must take responsibility for everything at the club, including the financial support which is something I always do. But from now, I will not put additional money into the club.
“If you say you are the owner and I am the custodian, then show me how to be the good owner and help save your club. You want me to leave but you want me to spend money? If you want me to leave, then show me how to run the club and invest the money before I do that.
“You have no right to ask me to leave. I am the one who saved the club and spent the money for the club, I am the one who needs to pay around £2m on average every month. Some fans need to have more respect for owners of clubs and not be so selfish, thinking of their own benefit without doing anything good to the club.
“This is not acceptable and as a result I am not willing to inject more money while I am being treated unfairly by those fans.
“The club needs support from everyone during difficult times. In football, there are good times and not so good times. It is easy to celebrate good times but we must support each other in difficult times.”
His statement came after fierce fan backlash and protests against the owner which saw Wednesday’s game with Middlesbrough halted after fans threw tennis balls on the pitch.

Fans also defaced a banner which said “Thank you Dejphon Chansiri.”
Wednesday will look to get their first win of the season this weekend as they host Huddersfield in a local derby.
