Former Chelsea target makes Prem clubs who snubbed him eat their words with stunning goal spree in Germany

SERHOU GUIRASSY’S sensational form in Germany has opened up old wounds among his Premier League admirers.

The Stuttgart striker, 27, wanted to play in England’s top flight.

And Frank Lampard was eyeing up a move for him while Everton boss.

Lamps had been keen on Guirassy after seeing him play for French outfit Rennes while he was in charge at Chelsea.

But Toffees bigwigs overruled him and they ended up signing Neal Maupay from Brighton for £15million in August 2022.

That deal was a total disaster as the Frenchman managed only one goal last season before he was loaned out to former club Brentford last month.

Burnley considered taking Guinea international Guirassy on loan in the 2021-22 season.

They signed Wout Weghorst instead in January last year — and he scored just twice as they went down after boss Sean Dyche was sacked.

West Ham, Crystal Palace and Sheffield United also tried and failed for Guirassy earlier in his career when he was at French side Amiens.

And Chelsea offered him a trial when he was looking to leave Amiens in 2020.

At 27, it’s fair to say that Guirassy has been a late bloomer in modern football terms.

Prior to this season he has never scored more than 11 goals in a league season.

But after starting this season in blistering form, he has managed 10 goals and one assist in just six league appearances for Stuttgart.

Stuttgart’s 2-0 victory against FC Koln yesterday was the first time Guirassy failed to register a goal or an assist in a game so far this season.

His ten goals in his first five games saw him match Robert Lewandowski’s Bundesliga record of being on double figures after five.

And when Lewandowski set that record, he went on to score 41 Bundesliga goals across the season – the most ever in a single campaign.

Guirassy’s goals has seen Stuttgart start remarkably as they sit in second behind fellow surprise packages Bayer Leverkusen in first.

It’s a remarkable turnaround in fortunes for a club that only stayed in Germany’s top division last season after winning a relegation play off against Bundesliga II side Hamburg.

If Guirassy’s goals continue, they’ll be dreaming of Champions League football next year and his admirers in the Premier League may have to pay big money if they look to reignite their interest in the Guinea international.
