The 30-year-old has signed for National League North new comers Warrington Town.

The club announced their new arrival on X (formerly Twitter) in a post that read: “A wise signing!

“Former Liverpool and Derby County defender Andre Wisdom has joined the club ahead of this weekend’s home game against King’s Lynn Town.”

Wisdom has been without a club since 2021 when he left Derby County on the expiration of his deal.

And he has struggled to find himself a new home after revealing his career hasn’t been the same since a horrific incident three years ago.

The defender was the victim of an armed attack during his time with The Rams and was stabbed in the head during the mugging.

Speaking on The Beautiful Game Podcast, he said: “It was frustrating as when I’ve come out of hospital after like three days, I had a couple of operations, it was like my body just wasn’t the same.

“I tried to get back into football and it wasn’t the same, I wasn’t getting the same output in terms of power or speed.

“It was hard to take and with that comes a lot of other niggles. I got stabbed in the head I got headaches. A little cut here (points to his chest) I couldn’t breathe that well when I came out of hospital because I had fluid on my lungs.

“I think I rushed coming back to football. So once I could walk, which was like three weeks I went straight back to football.”

Wisdom spent four years with Derby after spending the season on loan at RB Salzburg in Austria the year before where he won a league and cup double.

He will be hoping his return to competitive football will help him restart his career after a lengthy period away from the pitch.
