Alex Scott leaves Micah Richards in shock on Match of the Day 2 after making claim about throwing ‘mate under the bus’

ALEX SCOTT left pundit Micah Richards in shock with a sly dig on Match of the Day 2.

The pair were discussing the day’s games on the BBC show alongside Alan Shearer when Scott took a hilarious swipe at Richards.

The incident occurred as the three were analysed Manchester City’s 2-1 victory over Sheffield United on Sunday.

Despite them being full of praise for the Treble winners’ defiant performance, Kyle Walker’s howling mistake that led to The Blades’ goal also needed to be discussed.

The experienced full-back tried to back heel the ball inside his own box, giving it away in a dangerous position.

Sheffield United immediately took advantage with Jayden Bogle smashing the ball into the bottom corner to level things up.

But despite the moment obviously needing some airtime, it would appear Richards refused to analyse the shocking error by Walker.

The pair are understood to be close friends.

Shearer took over and talked viewers through the mistake by the England international, but not before Scott teased Richards for backing out of the analysis.

She said: “I like how Alan is bailing you out once again because you don’t want to throw your mate under the bus on this one.”

Richards was left shocked by the hilarious jibe and burst out laughing after exclaiming “WOW!” in reaction.

Shearer piled in as well saying: “Only because Kyle Walker is your mate you didn’t want to do this next bit.”

He went on to apologise to Walker himself for having to cover it, he said: “Kyle I apologise for laughing, but I did find this funny – only because you’ve ended up winning the game.”

City bounced back almost immediately after they conceded Bogle’s equaliser with a goal of their own just three minutes later.

Rodri hit an absolute bullet into the top corner to ensure all three points would be returning to Manchester and keeping Pep Guardiola’s perfect start to the season running.
