WREXHAM beat Wigan 4-2 on penalties to secure their first Carabao Cup win since 2007 and spark a brilliant X-rated celebration from owner Ryan Reynolds.
The first round game endless goalless after 90 minutes and had to be settled by spot-kicks.
Charlie Hughes missed first for League One Latics, while Wrexham – who are a division below them – converted their first four kicks.
Thelo Aasgaard had to find the net for the visitors – but he blazed over the bar, sending the North Wales side and their fans into a frenzy.
It was another night of huge drama at the Racecourse which got the blood pumping for Wrexham’s Hollywood owners, who have been living a fairytale since their £2m buyout was completed in 2021.
Deadpool star Reynolds, 46, tweeted after full-time: “Another year of hearts jumping outta chests like we’re in a f**king Aliens movie.”

And in a separate, more measured Instagram post, he wrote: “Beautiful work, boys! Onward…”
Wrexham captain Luke Young had led by example as he fired home the first strike in the shootout.
Elliott Lee scored next before Tom O’Connor added a third to pile pressure on the visitors.
Hughes missed and Sam Dalby followed up by slotting past Wigan keeper Sam Tickle, which meant Wrexham had a 100 per cent conversion rate before Aasgaard blasted over.

Wrexham have enjoyed huge success since their takeover by Reynolds and pal Rob McElhenney, also 46, returning to the EFL following their lengthy lay-off after storming to the National League title.
