Lionel Messi describes Premier League cult hero as ‘not human’ after ‘best keeping display I saw’

LIONEL MESSI has named a surprising candidate for the best goalkeeper he’s ever played against.

The World Cup winning superstar has regularly got the better of most goalkeepers he’s faced, but there is one that he found to be too much to handle.

Messi has an incredible goalscoring record with a stunning 717 career club goals to his name.

He’s netted past some of the highest rated goalkeepers in world football including Manuel Neuer, Iker Casillas and Gianluigi Buffon.

But only one keeper lives long in the memory of the 36-year-old after he frustrated the entire Barcelona team back in 2012.

Tottenham benchwarmer Fraser Forster played his part for Celtic as the Scottish side beat the Catalan club 2-1 in the Champions League 11 years ago.

The former Southampton goalkeeper made a whopping 13 SAVES that night and certainly seems to have earned the respect of one of the games best ever players.

During an interview in 2015, Messi gushed about Forster’s performance against him and his teammates.

He said: “The performances of Fraser Forster against us were talked about for a long time,

“There was one game in Scotland where he was not human. It is the best goalkeeping performance I have seen.

“When Victor Valdes said he was leaving (Barcelona) we even talked about him playing here. I was sure he would end up at Arsenal, Chelsea or Manchester United.”

Forster, 35, now plies his trade as Tottenham’s second choice keeper and made 20 appearances across all competitions for the North London club.

Messi has just made his move to the MLS where he is continuing to show his class, scoring seven goals and registering one assist in just four games for his new club Inter Miami.
