Unsurprisingly his XI is stacked with Arsenal stars, with no less than SIX included.
Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale (£4m) is picked between the sticks, playing behind William Saliba (3.5m) and Oleksandr Zinchenko (£3.5m), with Manchester City’s Manuel Akanji (£4.5m) making up a back three.
Piers has opted for a five-man midfield with Bukayo Saka (£6m), Gabriel Martinelli (£4.5m) and new boy Declan Rice (£3.5m) continuing the Arsenal trend.
City’s Rodri (£4m) and Brighton star Kaoru Mitoma (£3.5m) are the two others across the middle.
Alexander Isak (£4m) looks set to operate more through the middle this season and is selected alongside Erling Haaland (£8.5m) – the game’s most expensive player – in a formidable attacking pairing.
