Fans desperate for Premier League to bring in new technology that ‘looks like old FIFA gameplay’ after pre-season trial

FANS are seriously impressed by the latest technology being shown off by the Premier League in a pre-season trial.

The Premier League fitted players and referees with body-cams during its pre-season Summer Series to give fans a new insight into what goes on in a match.

A video on the Premier League’s Twitter showed the perspective of Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes as he operated from the midfield during Newcastle’s 3-3 draw with Aston Villa.

The video showcased how Bruno is pivotal in building Newcastle’s attacks from midfield and also gave an insight into the relationship he is building with midfield partner Sandro Tonali.

Tonali became Newcastle’s record signing earlier this month after joining for £60million from AC Milan.

Guimaraes can be heard asking for a one-two with Tonali before being fouled to win a free kick for the Magpies.

And fans on Twitter were quick to react with how much they loved the insight given by the body-cam footage.

One fan said: “Literally looks like old FIFA gameplay” referring to the camera perspective in the video game series’ ‘Be A Pro’ mode.

Another fan wrote: “Implement this in the PL right now!”

While a third added: “Like that FIFA advert years ago.”

And a fourth wrote: “This is so cool.”

The Premier League also shared footage of referee Peter Bankes wearing a body-cam during Fulham’s friendly with Brentford.

In the clip, fans could see how Bankes got a front row seat for Harry Wilson’s screamer from the edge of the box.

And many fans were keen to see a referee’s body-cam become a feature in next year’s Premier League – believing it could give insight into how a decision is reached.

One fan said: “Make ref cam a thing next season, please.”

Another said: “Now camera and mic them up for league matches.”

While a third wrote: “After this I’m A bit more sympathetic towards referees. Convinced we need like 2 refs on pitch to have a chance of a fair game.”
