FORMULA ONE fans have hailed Martin Brundle for his “absolute brutality” towards Cara Delevingne.
Viewers were fuming yesterday when Hollywood star and model Delevingne ignored the Sky Sports presenter as he made his way down the pitwalk at Silverstone.
Brundle’s grid walk interviews have become an essential part of F1 coverage, having worked as a reporter for the BBC and ITV before taking up his current role with Sky Sports.
But Delevingne appeared to be unaware of Brundle’s gridwalk authority and brutally snubbed the former F1 driver as he attempted to grab an interview.
He began by talking to a member of Delevingne’s entourage and said: “She doesn’t want to talk but everybody needs to talk on the grid.
“That’s the deal now, everybody talks on the grid.”

He then approached Delevingne and said: “Can we have a quick chat, [for] Sky F1? Good to see you on the grid.”
To which Delevingne replied: “No.” and looked awkwardly at her entourage.
Delevingne refused again and Brundle reiterated: “The deal is everybody has to speak on the grid.”
She then said: “I can’t hear anything, I’m so sorry.”

Brundle then said sarcastically as he walked away: “I’m sure it would have been extremely interesting.”
The clip soon went viral on Twitter, with one fan writing: “Absolute BRUTALITY from Martin Brundle at #SilverstoneGP.”
Another slammed Delevingne’s “garbage behaviour” while another tweeted: “What is Cara Delevingne doing on the F1 grid if she refuses to talk? Get someone who actually appreciates F1.”
But a fellow fan actually defended the 30-year-old Delevingne, tweeting: “At this point, Martin Brundle is just doing it to manufacture the moment for the controversy of it all.
“You can clearly see the PR rep tell him ‘no’ and shake his head when he goes up towards Cara Delevingne. He had an out and he chose not to take it to make a statement.”
Delevingne then responded to that comment by saying: “I was told to say no so I did. Thank you for seeing both sides xxx.”
Another person responded to that by saying that her agent did not “rule” her, to which she then replied: “It wasn’t an agent, it was an F1 representative.”
Delevingne then added another follow-up tweet that read: “Anyway, I had so much fun today and was so happy to be there no matter what anyone else may think x.”

This was not Brundle’s first awkward encounter with a celebrity on the grid.
He was also shut down by Megan Thee Stallion’s entourage at the Miami Grand Prix in 2021.
