The Gunners led by eight points at one stage but lost to Nottingham Forest on Saturday evening to see their title bid officially end – with the Reds officially avoiding relegation.

City now lead the Premier League by four points with three games to play. Arsenal have just one match left.

And with the title now wrapped up – their fifth in six seasons – the Etihad outfit have their sights on a historic Treble.

An FA Cup final against Manchester United and a Champions League clash against Inter Milan in Istanbul are all that stand in their way of becoming just the second team in English history to complete the Treble.

Man City celebrated the news with a poster and video shared to Twitter, dedicated to winning three in a row.

Despite a patchy opening half of the season, City always remained in touching distance of the top of the table.

With Erling Haaland firing the way, City stormed up the table with an astonishing winning run of 11 games in a row from February to overtake early leaders Arsenal.

Key wins over Arsenal and Liverpool during this run helped to overcome the gap between themselves and the Gunners.

Haaland has 36 Premier League goals so far this season

The Norwegian ace smashed the Premier League single-season goalscoring record thanks to his 36 strikes so far.

His remarkable tally of goals have been accommodated by creative monster Kevin De Bruyne, who has 16 assists to his name.

And a tactical shift from Pep Guardiola which saw stars such as John Stones play more as a midfielder than as a traditional defender has provided the platform for their title charge.

The versatility of stars such as Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake have also been key to Guardiola’s latest tactical revolution.

Meanwhile, ever-present figures like Jack Grealish, Ederson and Rodri have allowed City to maintain balance throughout the season.
