Fans spot blood pouring down Riyad Mahrez’s head while Man City stars celebrate goal against Arsenal


RIYAD MAHREZ’S head was bleeding during Manchester City’s thumping win over Arsenal.

The Algerian star, 32, was dropped to the bench despite his hat-trick in the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday.

He came off the bench to replace Ilkay Gundogan in the 72nd minute of the statement 4-1 victory.

But in the aftermath of City’s fourth goal deep into injury time, Mahrez was spotted on the TV cameras with blood pouring down the side of his head.

It is unclear what caused the unusual injury.

And plenty of City fans were concerned about their hero on Twitter.

One said: “Why is Riyad Mahrez bleeding?”

Another wrote: “What’s up with Mahrez’s head?”

However, it did not seem to dent his mood too much as he celebrated closing the gap on Arsenal to two points with two games in hand.

Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland turned on the style by running the show.

Haaland twice assisted his superstar pal either side of a John Stones header.

And Haaland grabbed his 49th goal of a remarkable season with that 95th-minute finish.

The result means City have one hand on the Premier League trophy and moved a giant step closer to a fifth title in six seasons.

Ruben Dias escaped a red card when he kicked out at Ben White just before half-time.

That sparked the first of three melees – with Thomas Partey and Jack Grealish angrily going head to head in the second half and then Haaland and White clashing after the full-time whistle.
