FRANK LAMPARD has agreed to return to Chelsea as interim manager.
The news comes after the club held talks with Luis Enrique about the vacant manager’s position at the club.
However, the club icon is to be ready to help the Blues on a short term basis after the sacking of Graham Potter.
Lampard has agreed a deal in principle to take charge of the Stamford Bridge outfit until the end of the season.
The 44-year-old played for the club for over a decade, winning everything on offer.
After retiring, he then was the head coach at the club after a spell at Derby until he was sacked in 2021.

Ashley Cole, Chris Jones and Joe Edwards will return to the Blues.
Lampard has been out of work since being sacked by Everton earlier in the season.
The club are also progressing with their attempts to hire a long-term coach.
Enrique is the frontrunner for the job after talks with the Blues top brass in London.

The Spaniard jetted into the capital with his adviser Ivan de la Pena for talks with the Stamford Bridge hierarchy and on his return joked with journalists.
He said: “I’ve come from Formentera, it is a beautiful island, like paradise. A wonderful island and I would advise everyone to go there.”
Enrique was clearly playing around and it is believed he is keen to take the job after successful talks.
He quit as manager of his national team following the World Cup last year and had planned to wait until the summer before stepping back into work.
Potter was sacked by Chelsea after the club’s defeat to Aston Villa on the weekend.
Since then Bruno Saltor has taken temporary charge and was in the dugout for the 0-0 draw against Liverpool on Tuesday evening.
