MAN UTD’s players held their own dressing room inquest after their comprehensive 2-0 defeat at Newcastle.
The Red Devils managed just one shot on target as the Magpies easily earned revenge for their Carabao Cup final defeat at Wembley.
And the Daily Mail claims the players resolved to work out among themselves how they had allowed themselves to be outworked by the Toon.
Man Utd star Luke Shaw said after the match: “I do think Newcastle are a very good side but I don’t think they won the game on quality today.
“Clearly, they had higher motivation than we had, and that can’t be possible.
“I’m not going to go too much into it, but the players had a chat after with no staff around, as it’s down to us on the pitch.

“It’s not good enough and we had to speak out in front of each other.
“It’s been coming, before the international break we had dropped levels.
“The levels were not there. It’s not good enough and it’s not acceptable.”
And manager Erik ten Hag fully agreed with the defender.

He said: “I totally agree and that was also my assessment.
“They were more determined, had more aggression and more desire.
“I was surprised that we couldn’t match the determination and passion of the opponent.
“If you want to win big games, you have to be mature, and I didn’t see that.”
