FORMER Tottenham star Mido has explained why his infamous Crossbar Challenge attempt was so bad.
Soccer AM used to test Prem players’ skills by seeing if they could hit the crossbar from the half-way line.
While at Wigan Mido wrote his name into Crossbar Challenge folklore for all the wrong reasons.
Instead of hitting his effort goalward the Egyptian spooned his shot way off course, and immediately put his hands to his head as his team-mates jeered mockingly.
But Mido has now claimed he sent his shot miles wide ON PURPOSE, but for a heartwarming reason.
After watching the video on Twitter yet again the striker said in response: “Again..my drivers dream was to appear on TV.

“But shot the ball towards him so he can be on TV… I would do it again and again watch how happy he is.”
Mido moved to Spurs on loan in January 2005 and later signed on a permanent contract.
He bagged 20 goals in 63 games before moving to Middlesbrough in 2007 and later joining Wigan in January 2009.
Mido’s last involvement in football was as manager of Egyptian side Misr Lel Makkasa.

He has since worked as a pundit covering Egypt on their African Cup of Nations campaign.
The former striker also underwent an impressive body transformation a few years ago, showing off his bulking, toned body after previously weighing 23stone.
