Arsenal legend Thierry Henry rejects chance to become France women’s national team boss after FA talks

ARSENAL legend Thierry Henry has reportedly rejected the chance to become France women’s boss.

Get French Football claims the iconic Gunners striker had been lined up by his country’s FA to replace Corinne Diacre, who was sacked last week.

Henry was headhunted by a panel specially created to find a new manager, which included Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas.

But despite being “flattered” during talks with the group, Henry eventually turned down the opportunity.

Aulas confirmed: “I personally asked him about it. His answer was not affirmative.”

Henry is believed to be waiting for the right occasion to return to management following spells with Monaco and Montreal Impact.

His most recent gig was serving as Roberto Martinez’s assistant with Belgium for a second time.

But Henry left their set-up after Martinez was axed following a dismal World Cup.

He has since been linked with the US national side following Gregg Berhalter’s exit.

However, Henry played coy when asked about the job on CBS Sport last month.

He said: “Would I put my name in the hat? First and foremost it’s a tricky one to talk about here.

“Roberto Martinez went to coach Portugal and I’m not going to follow him.

“Being a number two is not something I would like to do anymore.

“I would love to have a crack at it again [management].

“What is the plan [for the US]? What is the philosophy?

“Just because you will be a host nation [at the 2026 World Cup] doesn’t automatically mean you will go far in the competition.”
