Fellow boxer Ben Day added: “Yes Billy I’ve been watching your heartfelt journey and now I happy to hear this amazing journey, God has a plan for you ❤️x”

Sports presenter Michelle Joy Phelps tweeted: “Amazing news!!!”

Dib harrowingly revealed back in October that he felt like he was “dying”.

He told Wide World of Sports: “They sent me off for a scan but it showed something very little.

“They told me not to worry about it and gave me some medication. But then the following days I was feeling really sick and I went to Canterbury Hospital.

“They put me on morphine and they sent me home and said, ‘I need to do a scan’. And then when I called to get the scan done the next day, they said, ‘Sorry we can’t get you in until Monday.’

“I told them, ‘I’m dying. I need help, please.’ They said, ‘Sir, if you’re dying, call the hospital’.”

Dib possesses an impressive 48-6 record as a pro boxer.

He became IBF featherweight champion in 2011, beating Jorge Lacierva to claim his belt.

Dib went on to defend his strap against Alberto Servidei, Eduardo Escobedo and Juan Antonio Rodriguez.

The impressive Aussie later took on Khan in Saudi Arabia, but was beaten by the Bolton bruiser.
