Roy Keane and Gary Neville made to eat their words after mocking Souness’ Liverpool vs Man Utd prediction

ROY KEANE and Gary Neville both cheekily smirked as Graeme Souness backed Liverpool to beat Manchester United.

But it was Souness who had the last laugh as the Reds handed United their biggest defeat in NINETY-TWO YEARS.

Despite being unconvincing going into the match, Jurgen Klopp’s men hammered Ten Hag’s side 7-0 at Anfield.

Before the match, Souness said on Sky Sports: “I think where Liverpool are right now, this game comes at the perfect time.

“What an opportunity to put a marker down, to shut all the doubting Thomases up, and damage United.

“I fully expect them to turn up today. And it’s a long time, Kelly, since I’ve been as confident about a Liverpool win against United as I am today.

“I just feel they’re going to turn up today.

“I think they’ll be bang up for it today. This is a difficult place for United to come.”

Keane and Neville struggled to contain their laughter by the end of Souness’ prediction, with the pair both tipping their former side to win.

Neville suggested the game could go either way but had faith in his former team and expected Casemiro to play a big role.

He said: “This is a fortress. But United have got a tough bunch. I’ve got more faith in this group coming here than I have for many years.

“Get through that first half an hour and it’s anyone’s game.

“I always feel Liverpool are really strong in that first part of the game but with Casemiro in the team which we know he will be today, I’ve got real faith in United.

“He’s done something really special in that dressing room, obviously with the manager.”

Ironically Man Utd did get through the first half hour, but then fell behind to Cody Gakpo’s goal on 43 minutes.

A total capitulation would follow in the second half as Gakpo scored again, Darwin Nunez and Mo Salah netted doubles and Roberto Firmino capped things off with the seventh after some comical United defending.
