The centre-back played in every single game at the winter tournament, including 120 minutes in the thrilling 3-3 final with France, which saw Argentina beat the reigning champions on penalties.

Incredibly, Romero has won three international trophies in just 19 senior appearances for Argentina.

He helped Argentina win the Copa America in 2021, followed by the Finalissima in 2022 and then the World Cup.

He got some fresh ink after Argentina became South American champions again – their first title since 1993.
