LIVERPOOL legend Dietmar Hamann has warned Manchester United that Marcel Sabitzer may not have an immediate impact at the club.
Man Utd confirmed Sabitzer has been signed on loan shortly after midnight on transfer deadline day.
The Red Devils were forced into a deadline day swoop after Christian Eriksen was ruled out for three months with an ankle injury.
An agreement with Bayern Munich was reached this afternoon, although there is no option or obligation to buy.
Sabitzer, 28, agreed personal terms with United on the temporary switch before being seen at Munich airport on Tuesday evening ahead of his arrival at Old Trafford.
But 2005 Champions League winner Hamann, 49, has claimed Sabitzer could struggle to be an instant hit.

However, with the deal a straight loan until the end of the season, Sabitzer has no choice but to hit the ground running.
Hamann told Sky Sports: “He [Sabitzer] is a very energetic player, he has got a good engine, he can nick a goal, I think his best position is probably a bit further forward.
“I don’t think he is a defensive or a holding midfielder.
“I am pretty surprised Chelsea and Manchester United are interested because I am not sure he will help them straight away.

“He is a good squad player to have but whether he makes an immediate impact I’m not sure.”
Hamann continued: “He is certainly not a player to replace Christian Eriksen, I think he is a box-to-box player who has got a good engine, he’s very versatile, he played full-back at times.”
However, Hamann added that Sabitzer does have the potential to be a “very good player” for the Red Devils.
Chelsea were also rumoured to be interested in the Austrian, who joined Bayern 18 months ago from RB Leipzig.
But Hamann claimed Sabitzer does not have the same ability as Conor Gallagher, who has been linked with a move to Newcastle and Everton.
He added: “I think he [Sabitzer] would be a very good player for Manchester United to have but at the same time I am very surprised Chelsea are thinking of offloading Conor Gallagher and going for Sabitzer because I don’t think he is in Gallagher’s league.”
Sabitzer has played 24 games in all competitions for Bayern this season, but has started just seven Bundesliga games.
