The story reveals that Mikel Arteta’s side have a ‘serious interest’ in the 18-year-old and are looking to bolster their squad in the full-back position.

Real Valladolid are reportedly willing to let the defender go for a fee between £12million to £15million.

Despite Arsenal wanting to add Fresneda to their ranks, they are prepared to wait in the summer to sign him.

Newcastle United are also in the frame and have signalled their interest by reportedly opening talks with the talent.

Last week, Valladolid boss Jose Rojo Martin, known also as Pacheta, admitted Fresneda’s time at the club could be coming to an end.

He declared: “I think Fresneda has few games left with the Real Valladolid shirt. He is 18 years old, but he does things that people of 30 do.

“If I was at another club, I would go for him without hesitation, his data is brutal and you are not buying the current player, you are buying what he can become in a few years.”

Fresneda has only ever played for the first-team ten times in his career and his performances so far suggest he is a star of the future.

He has been capped four times by Spain’s Under-19 side and he was previously on the books of Real Madrid for four years as a child.

Fresneda is seen as one of Europe’s top emerging prospects in his position.

And the defender is also attracting interest from Borussia Dortmund and Juventus.

Fresneda’s release clause currently stands at £25million, with his contract running until 2025.
