Juventus star Nicolo Fagioli snubbed Man Utd transfer as he was ‘not ready to leave Italy’, reveals brother


JUVENTUS midfielder Nicolo Fagioli snubbed a move to Manchester United as he did not want to “leave Italy”.

The Italian’s brother Alessandro has revealed that the 21-year-old turned down a move to Old Trafford as he was not ready for a move away from home.

The Red Devils were reportedly interested in signing Fagioli during his time at Cremonese before he moved to Juventus.

When asked about how the Old Lady signed him, Alessandro brought up the interest from United.

He also insisted that the midfielder is a “mummy’s boy” and did not want to have to much distance between himself and home.

He told Tuttosport: “Nicolo is a mummy’s boy, he has never liked distance.

“When he was at the Cremonese youth team, he said no to Manchester United, he didn’t feel ready to leave Italy.

“And for Juve he preferred to decline the interest of Inter, AC Milan and Atalanta.”

The decision has seemed to have paid off for the midfielder as he spent a couple of seasons with Juventus’ youth sides before breaking into the first team this season.

He impressed manager Massimiliano Allegri and was brought off the bench against Lecce in October and went on to score the winning goal in the 1-0 victory.

Since then Fagioli has played in the Champions League and overall he has made nine appearances in all competitions, scoring twice.

Last season, the Italian was back at Cremonese on loan and helped them earn promotion to Serie A.
