Premier League 2023/24 season start date confirmed with football schedule back to normal and winter break returning

PREMIER LEAGUE chiefs have confirmed all the important dates for next season.

The 2023-24 campaign is set to return to normal after a chaotic campaign interrupted by the World Cup this time around.

Prem bosses have confirmed that next term will begin on August 12.

That’s 76 days after the final day of the 2022-23 campaign.

The final day will take place on Sunday, 19 May – with all matches going ahead simultaneously.

With the season hopefully not interrupted by Covid-19 or the World Cup – the winter break will return.

This will take place between January 13 and 20.

Prem bosses have also confirmed that no team will have matches within 48 hours of each other over the festive period.

The proximity of matches over that time of year has been a major gripe for managers in recent years.

Last year, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said: “Playing on the 26th and 28th, it’s just not right. I just say that because it is true.

“I think you can find solutions for that. It’s not that difficult to play football in a slightly different way – 26th and 29th, where is the problem?”

The current campaign is set to break for the World Cup after this weekend’s round of fixtures.

Prem fixtures will recommence on Boxing Day – although sides that reach the League Cup fourth round will have to play on December 23… just four days after the World Cup final.
