MANCHESTER CITY’S £100million man Jack Grealish has revealed the secret behind his low socks and large calves.
The England midfielder has a notable look on the pitch and the 27-year-old has lifted the lid on his style.
On those famous calves he claimed it is all genetics saying to the Daily Mail: “I actually don’t do anything. It’s just something that runs in the family.
“My grandad always had big calves when he used to play football.
“But I don’t do any calf exercises or calf routines in the gym or anything. Honestly, it’s just something that I’ve had since I was young.”
And on those well-known low socks Grealish shared that superstition is the reason behind it.

He said: “I think I was about 14 or 15 and we were sponsored by Macron at Aston Villa and the socks used to shrink in the wash.
“In training I couldn’t get them over my calves because the socks were so small.
“So I started wearing them below my calves in training — and that season I ended up playing really well.
“So then I started wearing my socks below my calves in games. It was just something that stuck because I’d had such a good season.”

Grealish is known for his superstitions, memorably wearing a pair of battered football boots as Aston Villa beat Derby to secure promotion to the Premier League in 2019.
The England ace persisted with them as they were “lucky” – despite his toe nearly being visible through the end of them.
Having made the move from his boyhood club Aston Villa prior to the start of this season, Grealish has opened up about working with a footballing great in Pep Guardiola.
Grealish said: “He’s an unbelievable coach. He’s just an addict to football. I can’t speak highly enough of him.
“I’ve said at times this season that he’s won games by himself, with the way he’s set us up and the tactics he’s given us and we’ve gone out there and done the job.”
Grealish hasn’t quite lived up to his price tag yet but is learning under the tutorship of a coaching legend.

He has had to bounce back from the disappointment of the Euro 2020 final defeat to Italy.
On the special tournament for England he said: “Now I look back, it was unbelievable. It was one of the best experiences of my life.”
