The previous two meetings ended in a split draw and a narrow win for 32-year-old Canelo.

And Golovkin believes he now knows rival Canelo’s weakness ahead of their fight.

Golovkin, 40, has accused Canelo of “arrogance”, and says it “is punishable”.

He said to NY Daily News on Canelo’s weakness: “Arrogance. And arrogance is punishable.”

Golovkin also says judges are no longer scoring in Canelo’s favour.

The Kazakhstani added that those with the cards are “not loyal to Canelo anymore” and do not feel the burden of his image.

He said on Canelo’s first defeat since 2013 against Dmitry Bivol: “In his last fight, the knockout was not necessary [to beat him].

“It’s encouraging that the judges are not loyal to Canelo anymore. They don’t feel this burden of his image.”

Golovkin took the war of words one step further, claiming Canelo has “a lot of bad traits”.

He said: “[Canelo] doesn’t bother me at all, but when a person has a lot of bad traits, traits that get in the way of him living a normal life.

“That bothers him. That’s what we see right now.”
