Antony was substituted off after 58 minutes and replaced by Ronaldo who smiled at him.

The new signing took to social media to praise CR7 posting on his Instagram story a picture of him leaving the field for Ronaldo.

He captioned the post “Idolo” which translates as ‘idol’ alongside the love heart and fist bump emojis.

Antony has arrived from Ajax for a fee of £85million and took to life in the Premier League quickly netting just 35 minutes into his first appearance for the Red Devils.

The goal will give him much confidence after the transfer was criticised by his former manager who claimed Man Utd overpaid for him.

Antony was trusted by Erik ten Hag to start after the pair worked together at the Eredivisie champions last season and rewarded his manager nearly straight away.

As for Ronaldo, he has started just one game under the Dutchman and looks set for a role coming off the bench in the latter stages of matches this campaign.

His addition proved vital yesterday as he was seen motivating and geeing up his United teammates when the game was level at 1-1 after Arsenal scored.
