SCOTT PARKER was “too honest” in his post-match interview after Bournemouth’s hammering by Liverpool – which proved to be his final match in charge of the club.
Parker was given his marching orders on Tuesday morning – just three days after the Cherries were battered 9-0 at Anfield.
The 41-year-old incredibly predicted darker days ahead for his former side despite having just been walloped 9-0.
It was an admission his former England team-mate Michah Richards believes cost him his job.
He told The BBC: “He wears his heart on his sleeve. He is a great guy and can be very emotional at times.
“With that interview, he was a little bit too honest.

“He has basically said to his players that he doesn’t think they are very good, in a roundabout way.”
Richards reckons Parker’s stern words would have had a detrimental effect on his players.
He added: “If I heard that from my manager, I’d be wondering if he thinks I am good enough. It puts that doubt in your mind.
“We are in the Premier League and you are supposed to be telling me how good we are, even if you’ve got to lie at certain times to build that confidence up.”

Parker drew the ire of Bournemouth chiefs by saying: “At this moment in time, where we currently are, I can see some more to be honest with you.
“It doesn’t surprise me. This is currently where it is at this moment in time.
“The players need help. Today proved too big a challenge. The levels were far too big.
“At times we couldn’t bear it, the intensity. We’ve got a decision to make as a club. There will be days like this.
“Time will tell. It’s a huge disappointment, a real humbling experience.”

Cherries owner Max Denim was less than impressed with the uninspiring post-match comments.
He said: “I would like to place on record my gratitude to Scott and his team for their efforts during their time with us.
“Our promotion back to the Premier League last season under his tenure will always be remembered as one of the most successful seasons in our history.
“However, in order for us to keep progressing as a team and a Club as a whole, it is unconditional that we are aligned in our strategy to run the club sustainably.

“We must also show belief in and respect for one another.
“That is the approach that has brought this club so much success in recent history, and one that we will not veer from now. Our search for a new head coach will begin immediately.”
