‘Don’t want to lose him’ – Ten Hag breaks silence on Marcus Rashford transfer after Man Utd ace linked with PSG move

ERIK TEN HAG says he has no intention of letting Marcus Rashford leave Manchester United.

Rashford has prompted interest from PSG despite his poor form over the last year.

But Red Devils boss Ten Hag clearly still has faith in the frontman.

Ten Hag said: “He’s really important, you have seen from the first day I’m here, I’m really happy with him, I don’t want to lose him, he’s definitely in our plans at Manchester United.”

Rashford still has a year left on his current contract with the option on the club’s side to extend that by a further 12 months.

They are content that the player is happy to stay.

What they need from him, however, and every United player is a step up from last Sunday’s poor performance against Brighton.

Rashford missed two good chances as they went down 2-1.

Ten Hag says he has been working all week to right the wrongs from that defeat.

He said: “I analyse the game, what went well, what went wrong, where can we improve, what do we have to improve, how we can train and we tell the players and show them how to improve and to get solutions.

“We learned a lot but I think it’s normal, when you start the season.

“You get the team together and get a way of playing and it’s a new start and you make mistakes, football is a game of mistakes. We know we have to improve in many things, that is clear.

“I know there is always pressure, I have the experience, how it is, I know we have to win every game, I know the fans, I know everyone expects Manchester United to win every game, we have to deal with that and all I can do is prepare the team as well as I can this weekend.”

United are said to value their academy graduate at a whopping £120million – despite his recent struggles in front of goal.

Rashford, 24, found the back of the net five times in 31 appearances last season and provided a paltry two assists.

The England ace started in United’s opening day disaster against Brighton last Sunday but failed to make an impact in the shocking Old Trafford defeat.

He is, however, enjoying life under new manager Ten Hag – the permanent successor of the sacked Ole Gunnar Solskajer.

He said during pre-season: “For me, it is a fresh start, something I am looking forward to.

“The first two and a half weeks of training has been good. We have improved a lot.

“The team is a lot fitter than last season and we have a lot of room for improvement.
