Man Utd in Cody Gakpo transfer talks with PSV winger keen to make Premier League move as Antony alternative

MANCHESTER UNITED are considering a move to sign PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo, reports suggest.

United have been linked with Gakpo, 23, throughout the summer transfer window and are discussing a potential deal “internally”.

That is according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who claims that the winger would “love” to move to the Premier League this summer.

The Red Devils appear to still be prioritising Ajax star Antony with the Netherlands international posing as a top alternative.

In the meantime, the Manchester giants continue negotiations with Juventus ace Adrien Rabiot’s camp after agreeing a €17million (£14.4m) deal with the Italian club for the midfielder.

Romano tweeted: “Manchester United are discussing Cody Gakpo internally, he’d love PL move – while talks are still ongoing with Adrien Rabiot’s camp. €17m fee already agreed with Juventus.

“Gakpo’s one of the names in the list alongside priority target Antony – no official bid yet.”

United manager Erik ten Hag is looking to bolster his attack after a poor start to the season that saw his team lose 2-1 to Brighton at Old Trafford last weekend.

The Red Devils have already lost Edinson Cavani, who left in June once his contract ran out.

Cristiano Ronaldo has also informed the club of his desire to leave in the summer as he wishes to play Champions League football this season.

Ten Hag has been trying to prepare for a potential exit by Ronaldo and wants to have a replacement ready to cover for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Gakpo stood out last season for PSV with 21 goals and 15 assists in 46 appearances across all competitions.
