NEWCASTLE have suffered a huge setback in their long running bid to sign Reims star Hugo Ekitike with the striker agreeing to join PSG.
GFFN and Shields Gazette are both reporting that the French striker has ‘agreed a deal in principle’ to join PSG.
Hugo Ekitike could be set to snub Newcastle for a move to the French capital. However, it’s reported that PSG are not prepared to match the bid Reims previously accepted from the Magpies.
Eddie Howe’s side had a £36m fee agreed with the club but couldn’t agree personal terms with the France U20 international, despite apparently offering 15 times the amount of money he’s currently on.
Reims are thought to be unwilling to lower their asking price to what PSG are prepared to offer, though it seems Newcastle are already looking at alternative strikers in the market.
It’s believed that Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are also monitoring the striker’s situation, but Reims and PSG continue to have ongoing discussions over the move.
