The program to choose the host cities for soccer’s 2026 World Cup will begin Thursday at 5 p.m., Eastern time. That word “begin” is important: This being FIFA, which strolled through the picks for the World Cup draw in April with the urgency of a receding glacier, viewers who tune in for the start can expect a bunch of speeches, at least one musical performance and possibly several glossy videos before any city names are actually revealed. The entire affair, whatever form it takes, will be broadcast live in the United States on Fox Sports 1 (English) and streamed on Universo (Spanish) and the new FIFA+ service.
