Jurgen Klopp plays down Liverpool quadruple hopes but he’s desperate to win Premier League title in front of fans

LIVERPOOL were denied the chance to lift their first league title in 30 years in front of fans due to Covid-19.

And after winning the 2019-20 Premier League boss Jurgen Klopp is desperate to repeat the feat, but this time with fans there to witness it.

Nevertheless the charismatic German played down his side’s chances of securing an unprecedented QUADRUPLE this season.

Liverpool have already won the Carabao Cup this campaign, and are still competing in the Champions League, FA Cup, and of course the Premier League.

Speaking to Peter Crouch for BT Sport, Klopp admitted it would mean “absolutely everything” to him, and to the club, to lift the title in front of a packed Anfield.

He said: “Without supporters [wining the league] was still good… but I would like to have it once in my lifetime at Liverpool with supporters.”

Klopp continued: “It would mean absolutely everything to us, but it’s only because of the opportunity to celebrate with fans.”

However the 54-year-old went on to claim that despite murmurings of a quadruple, his star-studded side are NOT frontrunners to win any of the three remaining tournaments they are left in.

He insisted: “This year we are not favourites in one competition, that’s the truth.

“But we are around and in it and people think we could do it so it’s nice, but we know that we need luck, we need momentum and we need [the ball to go] inside the post [and] in instead of outside the post [and] out.”

Instead Klopp refused to accept that winning the quadruple was ever a target, and when asked whether it was realistic, he said: “No it’s not. It never was.”

He piled the pressure on title rivals Manchester City by adding: “You cannot plan it, the schedule makes it really difficult.

“If you are in the league 20 points ahead you can say ‘come on that’s not too important anymore’ but for us we have to go for everything in each game, and that makes it really unlikely.

“But we won the first competition, that’s why we are the only ones who can win the quadruple but City are probably favourites for the treble, that’s how it is.”

Klopp concluded: “If we could win one other competition it would be already outstanding, and we don’t even know that yet.

“We will see what happens. But we are close enough around the big decisions, that’s already really cool.”
