PETR CECH hopes Chelsea’s new owners will continue the proud history of the club and pick up where Roman Abramovich left off.
There are several groups interested in purchasing the club which has been up for sale for more than a week.
Cech is now a technical advisor at the club and puts the success of the Abramovich era down to hard work by people at the club, rather than money.
He spoke about Chelsea’s situation in regard to a possible takeover ahead of the Blues’ 1-0 win over Newcastle.
Cech told Sky Sports: “Chelsea Football Club has 107 years of history and obviously have had a lot of success, with that coming down to the hard work and dedication of the people who have worked for the club since it was founded and have been on this journey of success.
“Of course, I hear around that people are trying to erase the last 19 years of the football community but this is not about money, this is about dedication and hard work of the players and the people behind the scenes to make the club successful.

“We have done it within all of the rules and all of the financial fair play and everything that was in our power, and this should not be forgotten.”
The former Blues goalkeeper is hopeful a new owner will continue Abramovich’s legacy of success on the pitch and in the community.
He pointed out the difficult circumstances the club is under after being sanctioned by the government on Thursday.
Chelsea are banned from conducting transfer activity, selling match tickets and selling merchandise, which means a sale of the club needs to take place soon.

Cech added: “Well sometimes in the careers of the players, the managers come and leave, they sometimes change the owners as we have seen in the past with different clubs.
“We know that we are in the same situation but ours is a lot different in that our circumstances are far more complicated than other clubs have experienced.
“We go day by day, and hope the new owner will come and will want to continue the legacy of this football club and keep them competitive and to take care of the community and all the other stuff the football club is involved in.”
Cech was asked about the impact the sanctions have had on the club with fears Chelsea would be unable to pay players and staff due to the restrictions on various revenue streams.
He attempted to clarify the situation by saying: “We hope so, we hope the people working for the club are able to earn their salaries and live their lives.
“Hopefully, as I said, this is a difficult situation and a difficult question for me to answer because the licence could change as it is a day to day situation.”
