KAI HAVERTZ avoided a red card in the first half of Chelsea’s clash against Newcastle after he elbowed Dan Burn in the head.
The Germany international and the Magpies centre-back went up for a header in the 38th minute, with the 22-year-old leading in with his elbow.

The incident then went to VAR, but it wasn’t judged to be worthy of a red card with it deemed as reckless rather than foul play.
Burn was livid that the Chelsea ace wasn’t sent off as he slapped Havertz on the leg while he was receiving treatment.
He then went to confront Havertz as he pointed his finger at him, but the defender was held back by team-mate Jamaal Lascelles.

But his colleague and former Liverpool team-mate Jamie Redknapp believes Havertz was lucky to stay on the pitch.
Speaking during Sky’s analysis of the first half at Stamford Bridge, he remarked: “I think it’s a very dangerous challenge by Havertz.
“You have to use your arms for elevation [but] his elbow is high and he catches him on the side of his face.
“He could have fractured his cheekbone.”
