Australian organisers are keen to bring Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou back to his homeland for a homecoming tour this year – with Celtic CONFIRMING their acceptance this lunchtime.

And Rangers would also be a major draw in Oz, with the Ibrox club having a huge support Down Under.

The prospect of Australia hosting a historic first Old Firm clash abroad as part of a tournament is a possibility – if both clubs agree.

Sydney reports on Tuesday morning claimed that the Accor Stadium is the most likely venue should it be signed off

.A-League clubs are also part of the plans for the tournament – which would be held during the Premiership’s break for the World Cup.

Depending on which countries qualify for the Qatar 2022 finals, both teams could be without several first-team stars for any trip.

But Aussie organisers are serious about the shock proposal, with more info expected in the coming days.

Former national team boss Postecoglou is a huge star in his homeland – and his star is on the rise with the Hoops on top of the Premiership table.

When his team ran out impressive 3-0 winners against the Gers last month, he said his first Old Firm experience at Celtic Park reminded him of the big footy match Down Under.

Australia has a big ‘Showdown’ derby that’s been hugely controversial down the years across on the other side of the world.

Speaking in an interview with a Melbourne Radio station, Postecoglou was asked what Celtic v Rangers was all about.

And he said: “It’s Port Adelaide v Adelaide Crows by about a thousand times I would say mate! It’s pretty intense.
