Man City boost in Erling Haaland transfer race as Real Madrid delay move and Pep Guardiola ‘lifts Raiola ban’

MANCHESTER CITY have received a boost in their hopes of landing Erling Haaland this summer.

Real Madrid are believed to be in pole position to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Norwegian hot shot when his £64million release clause becomes active this summer.

However according to reports in Germany on Friday, the Spanish giants have indicated they will be unable to do a deal for him this summer.

Their main focus is on signing Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint Germain and the cost of that means they are unlikely to be able to sign Haaland as well.

So according to Ruhr Nachrichten, Madrid have urged the former Salzburg forward to spend another year with Dortmund – before moving to Madrid in 2023.

Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain are believed to be keen on Haaland – while his current club have not given up hope of persuading him to stay.

However Madrid’s stance would only improve City’s chances of signing him.

Pep Guardiola’s side are seen as the most likely destination if Haaland decides to follow in the footsteps of his father Alf-Inge and head to England.

And another report in Spain says the Etihad giants are willing to bury the hatchet with the player’s representative Mino Raiola to get a deal done.

Guardiola has made no secret of his dislike of the Italian super agent in the past and City have been reluctant to deal with him as a result.

The Spanish boss has reportedly had a ban on signing any player Riola is representing.

However Sport has now stated that he will not get in the way of any potential deal for Haaland this summer.

SunSport revealed on December 11 that Raiola was demanding a £47 million payment for himself as part of any agreement – but that City had not been put off by it.
